Our urine monitoring service is used by many dentists for themselves
and for their team, as part of their annual safety audit - to make
sure thay are not at risk of mercury exposure at work. The service
uses a pre-paid mailing pack containing a sample tube with a
preservative to stabilise the urine sample, which is usually
produced at the end of the working week. Fast and highly accurate,
the service uses atomic absorption spectroscopy to detect levels of
mercury down to 2 parts per billion (micrograms per litre).
Each customer is supplied with a report giving a clear indication
of their level of exposure.
For patients too. The method is sensitive enough to
detect mercury which has been released from amalgam fillings in the mouth
and many people use our service to ascertain whether their 'leaky' fillings
may be contributing to a mercury burden which might affect their health.
